Find out how to clean dentures properly!

How to clean removable dentures

Adapting to a new oral hygiene routine can be difficult after a dental implantology procedure.

To make sure you clean your new removable dentures properly, you should have a few tools on hand. Use a soft precision brush, a three-headed brush and special denture floss.

1. Clean your removable dentures

Start by removing your dentures. Use the soft precision brush to brush them well. Then soak the dentures overnight in denture cleaning solution to remove any remaining plaque.

2. Clean your implant and gums

Next, brush your dental implant using the three-headed brush. Floss to remove any remaining tartar on your gums and around the implant.

To thoroughly clean your gums, use the soft precision brush and brush using up and down strokes.

3. Rinse your mouth well

Finally, rinse your mouth with an antibacterial mouthwash. This will eliminate a maximum of bacteria that could get trapped under your dentures and in your dental implant.

How to clean fixed implant supported dentures

If you have fixed implant supported dentures, you will need different tools since fixed and removable implant dentures are not cleaned in the same way. You will need a soft brush for dentures and dental floss to clean your implants properly.

1. Clean your dentures as if you were brushing your teeth

Fixed dental implant supported dentures are cleaned almost exactly like real teeth. Use a soft toothbrush to brush and floss as you would if you didn’t have implants.

2. Rinse your mouth

Once again, you should use an antibacterial mouthwash after brushing your teeth to reduce the risk of developing an infection or gum disease.
